1. Who We Are

Solvd ("we", "our", or "us") is an AI-powered study assistant platform. We help students transform documents into flashcards, quizzes, explanations, and interactive AI tutoring sessions. Our service is operated by the Solvd team. You can reach us at privacy@solvd.app.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Account information: Name and email address when you sign up via email or Google.
• Documents you upload: PDFs, images, and other files you upload for processing. These are used solely to generate your study materials and are not sold or shared.
• Payment information: Processed securely by Stripe. We never store your card details.
• Communications: Emails or support messages you send us.

Information collected automatically:

• Usage data: Which features you use, how often, and general interaction patterns.
• Device & browser: Browser type, operating system, screen size.
• IP address: Used for security and fraud prevention.
• Cookies & localStorage: Used to keep you logged in and remember your preferences (theme, settings).

3. How We Use Your Information

• To generate your study materials (flashcards, quizzes, explanations, AI tutor responses) from documents you upload.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the platform.
• To authenticate your account and keep it secure.
• To process payments and manage subscriptions.
• To send you important service updates (not spam — you can opt out of marketing emails at any time).
• To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms of Service.

4. AI Processing & Third-Party Services

When you upload a document, its content is sent to OpenAI (GPT-4o) for AI processing. OpenAI processes this data under their own API privacy terms and does not use your content to train their models by default. We do not send personally identifiable information alongside your documents.

Other third-party services we use:

• Supabase — database and authentication (hosted in the US)
• Stripe — payment processing
• Vercel — website hosting

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data and study packs for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete all associated data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated usage statistics may be retained indefinitely.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data. You can do this from your Settings page or by emailing us.
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
• Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear cookies at any time in your browser settings, though this will sign you out.

8. Children's Privacy

Solvd is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at privacy@solvd.app and we will delete the account.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or a prominent banner on the site. Continued use of Solvd after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
